The unit has electronic units directly attached at solar modules as boxes or integrated into a solar module-connection box. A bistable relay is provided with a mechanical contact that is controlled by a driver circuit. The electronic units are fitted in a connection box of a photovoltaic-module or in an auxiliary box at or in proximity of the module for retrofitting purposes. Supply voltage is supplied by a power supply unit and an emergency alarm unit. A fire alarm system is released manually by hand switches and/or the emergency alarm unit and automatically released by smoke detectors.
