The method involves providing a dataset (13) describing a three-dimensional mold (a) of a composite part, and executing simulated draping of a simulated planar semi-finished material (15) of the composite part (b) on the mold. A simulated blank (17) of the semi-finished material is determined (c) based on the draping of the semi-finished material. The mold and/or the dataset is adjusted based on the draping of the semi-finished material, where the composite part is provided with a wooden layer, a metal layer connected with the wooden layer and a polyester-cellulose layer. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a method for simulating forming process.
