Integration of a global positioning system and active parking assistance functionality

The vehicle has a global positioning system and active parking aid. The global positioning system is configured to provide information indicating a current location of the vehicle and information indicating the configuration of a target parking location near the current location of the vehicle. The active parking aid is configured to influence the maneuvering of the vehicle into the target parking location. The active parking aid is coupled to the global positioning system to obtain the current location information and the target parking location information therefrom. The active parking aid determines a type of assisted parking functionality that is to be used to influence the maneuvering of the vehicle into the target parking location depending on the current location information and the target parking location information.
