The method involves utilizing a tying device (1) having two superimposed limbs that define a loop, where the device is provided for assuring the fixation of a branch (2) e.g. shoot, of a plant e.g. vine, on a support element (3) e.g. support wire. The support element is inserted into the loop by spacing the limbs. The branch of the plant is introduced in the loop while sliding the tying device along the support element. An independent claim is also included for a tying device comprising an elastically deformable structure.
