The unit has a mixing chamber (CM1) arranged at an outlet of a feeding hopper (TA1) and a storage bin (SC1). The mixing chamber assures continuous mixing of polluted soil and pulverulent lime. A controlled heating screw reactor receives the mixture at the output of the mixing chamber. The mixture in thermo-regulated chamber reactor at the outlet of the controlled heating screw is received for a determined time. A treating module (6) treats slightly concentrated gas exhausting from the mixing chamber. An independent claim is also included for a method for treating soil polluted by less volatile organic compounds.
