Surface characterization device characterized in that it comprises: a capillary (C) called imaging for guiding a near or mid-infrared, visible, ultraviolet or X-ray electromagnetic radiation from or towards a surface (SE) to be characterized, said capillary having a so-called front end (EA) facing said surface and having an aperture of micrometer or sub-micrometer diameter; and a micromechanical oscillator (DP) for inducing an oscillatory movement of said capillary with respect to said surface. Use of such a device for simultaneously acquiring topographic information and spatially resolved spectroscopic information on a surface to be characterized.
