Method for lightening or dyeing keratinous fibers, in the presence of oxidizing agent, comprises applying a formulation obtained by mixing: anhydrous cosmetic composition (A) comprising at least one fatty substance and at least one surfactant; a cosmetic composition (B) comprising combination of ammonium (bi)carbonate and at least one organic or inorganic base or their salts; and a cosmetic composition (C) comprising at least one oxidizing agent and at least one fatty substance, to the fibers. The fatty substance is present at at least 35 wt.% with respect to total weight of formulation. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a multi compartment device comprising a first compartment including the anhydrous cosmetic composition (A), a second compartment including the cosmetic composition (B) comprising the combination of the ammonium (bi)carbonate and the organic or inorganic base or bases or one of its/their salts and optionally at least one oxidation dye and/or direct dyes, a third compartment including a composition (C) including at least one oxidizing agent, the compositions of the compartments being intended to be mixed before application in order to give the formulation; and (2) a four-compartment device comprising the first compartment including the anhydrous cosmetic composition (A), the second compartment including the cosmetic composition (B) including the combination of the ammonium (bi)carbonate and the organic or inorganic base or bases or one of its/their salts, the third compartment including at least one oxidation dye and/or at least one direct dye, and a fourth compartment including the cosmetic composition (C) comprising at least one oxidizing agent, the compositions of the compartments being intended to be mixed before application in order to give the formulation.
