The device has electricity conducting terminals (37a, 37b) connected to one of a set of elements of a windscreen wiper mechanism. An ohmmeter (25) measures resistance between the terminals. A control unit (27) is connected to an alerting and/or informing unit (29) used for informing a wear-out state of the windscreen wiper mechanism to a user. The control unit receives measurement results realized by the ohmmeter and transmits the measurement results to the alerting and/or informing unit. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a vehicle comprising a sealed shell in which a windscreen wiper mechanism is placed (2) a test bench comprising a circuit breaker connected to a control unit (3) a method for determining a wear-out state of a windscreen wiper mechanism.
