Cosmetic composition (A) comprises: in an aqueous medium, (i) one or more non-siliconated polymer thickeners; and (ii) at least one ethylenic copolymer comprising, (a) 65-95 wt.% of one or more substituted ethylene monomers (I), (b) 5-35 wt.% of at least one or more cationic monomers comprising substituted ethylene monomers (II), and (c) 0-30 wt.% of one or more anionic monomers comprising maleic anhydride and/or substituted ethylene monomer (III). Cosmetic composition (A) comprises: in an aqueous medium, (i) one or more non-siliconated polymer thickeners; and (ii) one or more ethylene copolymer comprising (a) 65-95 wt.% of one or more substituted ethylene monomers of formula (H 2C=CR1-Z-(R2) m-(CH 2-CH 2-O) n-R3) (I), (b) 5-35 wt.% of at least one or more cationic monomers comprising substituted ethylene monomers of formula (H 2C=CR1-(Z1a) x 1-(R2a) m 1-X) (II), and (c) 0-30 wt.% of one or more anionic monomers comprising maleic anhydride and/or substituted ethylene monomer of formula (H 2C=CR1-(Z1a) x 1-(R2a) m 1-Y1) (III).
