The system (10) has a parking brake mechanism including a control bar (12) forming an actuator actuating an immobilization lock of a vehicle during parking. The mechanism has a locking pin (30) that is integrated with a control arm (26) for being displaced with respect to the control arm between an inactive position of a locking ramp (20) and a drive position. The actuator occupies an inactive position when the pin and the ramp are in their inactive positions, and a parking position when the pin is in its drive position and the control arm is in speed ratio engaging position. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an automatically controlled gearbox controlling system of a vehicle.
