The invention relates to a system for detecting a crossing, by a vehicle (3), of a line (L1) of the effect of a red light on a traffic light (2), on a roadway (4) comprising at least four lanes, comprising at least two pieces of equipment (1) situated on each side of the carriageway (4), - each piece of equipment (1) comprising a pair of presence zones equipping each lane, for between one to five lanes the roadway (4); an image sensor (10), whose field of vision is able to view at least the between one and n roadways of the roadway (4) equipped with at least one pair of presence zones, and thus defining an extremal pathway on the roadway (4) as the furthest route from the sensor (10) among the between one and n lanes of the roadway (4); and a processor (20) connected at least on the one hand to each pair of presence zones and on the other hand to the sensor (10), the processor being able to detect the presence of a vehicle (3) passing through an area presence device characterized in that it comprises a zone (31-1) of additional presence firstly connected to a first piece of equipment (1) and secondly located in the extremal viewing path of the second piece of equipment (1), upstream of any other zone (21) of presence on the one hand connected to said first equipment and on the other hand located in the extreme vision path of the first device (1).
