The system has a main shaft (2) connected to a drive motor (5), and a secondary shaft (6) connected to the main shaft by an initial gear ratio coupler (10) and a final gear ratio coupler (9). An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling gear ratio change of an automatic gearbox.
