The assembly has a maintaining equipment (100) comprising a maintaining unit (101) maintaining a pastille shaped sample (36) and a test piece (40) that are positioned such that horizontal plane surfaces of the sample and the test piece are arranged in contact with each other and are separated only by an adhesive. The maintaining unit applies compression force to bring the sample and the test piece close together, in a direction perpendicular to the plane surfaces, while permitting relative rotation of the sample with respect to the test piece. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for assembling a sample with a test piece to adhere the sample with the test piece (2) a method for testing a coating.
