Antifouling coating composition comprises at least one biocide and nitrocellulose. Independent claims are included for: (1) coating a surface, including the surface of a vessel intended to be submerged in the water as the hull or the keel, with a layer, comprising applying the antifouling coating composition, followed by a drying step; and (2) element, such that a portion of a vessel intended to be submerged in the water as the hull or the keel, coated fully or partially, a layer antifouling obtainable by the above method.
