The installation (1) has a tank (2) containing water (5). The tank includes an outlet (24) for allowing the water to run out of the tank. A pump (3) pumps the water from a natural open water source (4) and less partially fills the water in the tank. A transformation device (6) e.g. wind turbine and photovoltaic panel, transforms renewable energy into electric power, where the transformation device is arranged to perform function of the pump. Another transformation device (7) transforms kinetic energy of the water into electric power at the outlet of the tank.
