The invention relates to a circuit for compensating a reactive energy absorbed by a variable power load, this compensation circuit being arranged in parallel with the variable power load with respect to an alternating voltage source. This circuit comprises: - at least one compensation capacitor for supplying reactive energy to the load, - an absorption coil for absorbing a surplus of reactive energy, - a static converter controlled according to a switching operation, this converter statics consisting of power transistors for supplying the absorption coil generated by the static converter in the supply network; an anti-harmonic filter for eliminating harmonic components of the current supplying the load, and a regulation module for controlling the power transistors from a duty cycle which is an image of the phase shift between the voltage and the current of said voltage source, and so as to impose at any time a zero phase shift between the voltage and the current of said voltage source.
