The spectrometer has a long slit (2) arranged to pass an optical beam. A set of three mirrors (3-5) is arranged in relation to each other for collimating the optical beam toward a dispersive grating i.e. network scale (6). The grating is arranged with respect to the mirrors for reflecting the optical beam to a detection assembly (10). The grating and the mirrors are arranged, so that the collimated beams illuminate the grating in a quasi-Littrow mode. The detection assembly is arranged to separate and isolate a set of diffraction orders according to detection channels. The network scale serves as a spectral multiplexer.
