The circuit has an electric energy source i.e. battery (14), supplies power to an electric motor (11) by controlling a contactor (15) using an engine controller (28). An electric power reducing unit (18) reduces the power supplied to the electric motor. The power reducing unit comprises a connection unit i.e. switch (25), for connecting an electrical resistor (19) in series between the electric energy source and the electric motor. The connection unit comprises a power supply solenoid (26) for actuating an interrupter (27). An independent claim is also included for a method for supplying power to an electric starter of a heat engine.
