If an anomaly S24 exists between the electrical signature and the expected electrical signature, a change S25 in the physical well-being of a person resident in the dwelling may be identified. For example, if an appliance such as an oven is left switched on for a prolonged period, this may indicate that the person experiences memory loss. The anomaly in the electrical usage may be associated with a particular symptom e.g. heating use may indicate fever. An alert may be issued and/or an appliance may be controlled remotely in response to anomaly detection.
