PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce unwanted components remaining in processed goods of earthworm, such as arsenic, heavy metal and the like.SOLUTION: This invention produces a flooring material for vermiculture by adjusting the PH value of a vegetable fiber material to a prescribed value by soaking the vegetable fiber material in PH adjustment solution, or by spraying it with PH adjustment solution, and at the same time, by eluting arsenic or heavy metals contained in the vegetable fiber material eluted into PH adjustment solution and thus separating and removing them from the vegetable fiber material, and subsequently by adjusting moisture content of the vegetable fiber material.
