PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a catalyst for decomposing hydrocarbon oil, which is a catalyst used in decomposing the hydrocarbon oil in the presence of water, containing a composite metal oxide as a catalytically active component and high in mechanical strength and stability in a reaction system, and to provide a method for decomposing the hydrocarbon oil using the catalyst for decomposing the hydrocarbon oil, prepared using the producing method.;SOLUTION: A method is provided for producing a catalyst for decomposing hydrocarbon oil, used for decomposing the hydrocarbon oil, wherein the catalyst for decomposing the hydrocarbon oil includes a composite metal oxide. The method for producing the catalyst for decomposing the hydrocarbon oil includes a mixing step of preparing a mixture of the composite metal oxide and an acidic solution containing zinc, and a baking step of baking the mixture to prepare the catalyst for decomposing the hydrocarbon oil. A method for decomposing the hydrocarbon oil includes bringing the hydrocarbon oil into contact with the catalyst for decomposing the hydrocarbon oil in the presence of water to decompose the hydrocarbon oil.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
