PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photography auxiliary device and the method, and a photographing device and a camera-equipped portable terminal mounting the photography auxiliary device, capable of setting a frame for a composition according to a photographed image taken by a photographing device and others.SOLUTION: A photography auxiliary device includes: an image input part 1 to which a photographed image is input; a main photogenic subject detection part 2 for detecting a main photogenic subject from the photographed image input in the image input part 1; a state recognition part 3 for recognizing the state of the main photogenic subject detected by the main photogenic subject detection part 2; a composition selection part 4a for selecting a frame of a composition corresponding to a state if the state of the main photogenic subject recognized by the state recognition part 3 is applicable to one of the plurality of states configured in advance; and a frame setting part 5 for setting the frame selected by the composition selection part 4a to a photographed image as a setting frame.
