PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for diagnosing clogging in an exhaust gas filter or reduction in a cross-sectional area in a low-pressure branch of an exhaust gas return guide section.SOLUTION: At an operation point of an internal combustion engine where a fresh air throttle (34) or an exhaust gas flap (24) is open provided that a low-pressure exhaust gas return guide section (40) includes no error, if the fresh air throttle (34) or the exhaust gas flap (24) is at least partially closed, an error in the low-pressure exhaust gas return guide section (40) is estimated.
