PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to cast an ingot with less surface defects.;SOLUTION: A mold 2 has a cooler 21 which makes the thermal flux at the four corner parts 2a less than that at the four face parts 2b. The cooler 21 has the first flow channels 22a which are each embedded in the four corner parts 2a, respectively and which channel cooling water, and the second flow channels 22b which are each embedded in the four face parts 2b, respectively and which channel the cooling water. The distance from the inner peripheral surface of the mold 2 to the first flow channels 22a is longer than that from the inner peripheral surface of the mold 2 to the second flow channels 22b.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
