PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a method of manufacturing a catalyst to synthesize a carbon nanotube assembly excellent in carbon output, a swelling property, and dispersibility, and excellent in electroconductive; a method of manufacturing the carbon nanotube assembly manufactured by using the catalyst; and a technique of efficiently manufacturing the carbon nanotube assembly.;SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a carbon nanotube synthesis catalyst includes the following processes. (1) A process in which a water soluble organic metal salt, and a hydroxide including a metal element of a carrier component are dissolved and/or dispersed in a water solvent to be mixed. (2) A process in which the water solvent is removed from an obtained solution and/or dispersion liquid at a range of 100-200°C of a drying temperature, and an obtained solid is ground. (3) A process in which the obtained catalyst precursor is heated in a range of firing temperatures of 350-550°C in the existence of oxygen and is cooled, and then an obtained fired material is ground to obtain a carbon nanotube synthesis catalyst.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
