PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for separating and recovering COfrom a mixture gas occurring from a steel plant and for producing methanol by effectively using the CO.SOLUTION: The method includes a step A of separating and recovering COfrom a mixture gas containing COoccurring from a steel plant, and a step B of converting the COseparated and recovered in the step A into methanol in the presence of hydrogen, and preferably further includes a step C of separating and removing HO, COand Hfrom the gas that has been subjected to the step B. Since the produced methanol can be used as a fuel for a heating furnace, a hot blast stove or the like or as a reducing material for a blast furnace in the steel plant, the use amount of coal, heavy oil, natural gas or the like in the steel plant can be reduced, and consequently, an amount of COoccurring from the steel plant can be reduced.
