EXTRACT AGENT HAVING ANTISEPTIC/ANTIMICROBIAL FUNCTION OBTAINED FROM ARTEMISIA ABSINTHIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that: currently, in the cosmetics industry, consumers' concern about the safety of products has been growing; in association therewith, as to raw materials to be compounded in products, those derived from natural matter tend to be favored; as for antiseptics in particular to be compounded in products, their safety, irritancy to the skin, etc., are under concern; however, as three-year quality guarantee period is required, in principle, for products under the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law, use of antiseptics is inevitable in the present situation; therefore, in the cosmetics industry, in order to respond to consumers' demand for safety, efforts for developing natural matter-derived antiseptics are underway; despite the fact, satisfactory antiseptic materials in terms of safety, functionality and handleability have been unable to be developed yet.;SOLUTION: It has been found that: by compounding a cosmetic with 2-7%, preferably 5-7%, of a component obtained by extraction from Artemisia absinthium, a kind of plant belonging to the genus Artemisia, Compositae family, the resultant cosmetic sufficiently exhibits its function as antiseptic. Extract from Artemisia absinthium has been originally used in beverages from old times, being used currently as a bittern ingredient as a food additive, a number of safety tests have been conducted in association therewith, thereby being deemed as a highly safe material. In addition, the extract is available in a water-soluble liquid, being a material very easy to handle with high solubility in producing cosmetics.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
