PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio frequency transmission or reception chain with an automatic impedance matching function and an automatic impedance matching method.;SOLUTION: An impedance matching network (MN) is inserted between an amplifier (PA) and an antenna (ANT). A current i and an output (respectively input) voltage V of the amplifier and their phase shift are measured, and a complex impedance defined by V/i is deduced from the measured values. The impedance of the antenna is calculated as a function of the complex impedance and as a function of known existing values of the adjustable impedances of the matching network. New adjustable values of impedances of the matching network to obtain a desired overall load impedance for the amplifier are calculated on the basis of the calculated value, and the matching network is controlled to adjust the adjustable impedances to these new values.
