PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow fiber carbon membrane easily produced, attaining miniaturization of an apparatus, excelling in water separating and permeating performance, and having flexibility to the extent of being hard to damage, and to provide a separation membrane module using the hollow fiber carbon membrane, and a method for producing the hollow fiber carbon membrane.;SOLUTION: The hollow fiber carbon membrane includes a first hollow filiform carbon membrane, and a second carbon membrane provided on the outer surface of the first carbon membrane. The rupture elongation of the hollow fiber carbon membrane is 1% or more and 4% or less, and the second carbon membrane contains a metallic element and a sulfur element.
