SEEDLING-RAISING METHOD AND SEEDLING-RAISING FACILITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase antioxidative activity of seedlings of leaf vegetables commonly used as edible vegetables.;SOLUTION: Dwarfing of seedlings of leaf vegetables is enhanced by placing a seedling-raising period of the leaf vegetables under irradiation with only the illumination light containing blue light having wavelengths of 450-500 nm as main component. The illumination light is preferably light emitted from a blue light emitting diode or light emitted from both of a blue light emitting diode and a red light emitting diode. For example, in the case of raising seedlings of red leaf lettuce, dwarf seedling of red leaf lettuce having antioxidative activity of ≥500 nmol mg^-1 DW in terms of Trolox equivalent has been obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
