PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compounds useful in the treatment, prevention or amelioration of one or more symptoms of hepatitis C.SOLUTION: The present application relates to a process for preparing a compound of formula I: wherein Ris alkyl; Ris alkyl; and Ris optionally substituted cycloalklylalkyl, wherein the process comprises oxidizing a compound of the formula wherein R, Rand Rare defined above to yield a compound of formula I. Mainly the oxidation is carried out by using an oxidizing agent, but in another embodiment by further using a catalyst. It is preferred to further use a co-catalyst.
