PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planter which allows easy transplanting of a seedling, hardly spills out soil, and enables plants to be grown upside down, and to provide a transplanting method.;SOLUTION: The planter 10 includes: a container body 20 that is provided with an upper opening 16 and a lower opening 18 in an upper part 12 and a lower part 14, respectively; a linear body 22 that changes an opening area of the lower opening 18; and an elastic member 24 that changes the distance between the upper part 12 and the lower part 14.
