PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitor camera system which reliably estimates the current optical environment, actively improves an optical environment that is generated by external conditions corresponding to the estimation result and properly acquires captured image data, a monitor camera, an optical environment adjuster and an optical environment adjustment method. PSOLUTION: A light irradiation state estimation part 120 estimates a state of light irradiated on a main object 30 in a field of view 10 of the monitor camera 110. Based on the irradiation state estimation data, an optical environment adjustment part 130 that is arranged outside the monitor camera 110 adjusts either or both of natural lighting and artificial lighting to the main object 30 within the field of view 10.
