PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a musical performance learning support apparatus that provides the most appropriate advice according to the state of a user.SOLUTION: A CPU evaluates the performing ability of a user on the basis of comparison of a plurality of sets of musical note data each representing a tone in a given piece of music and performance data generated correspondingly to performance inputs by the user; acquires an achievement level according to the relative difficulty of the piece of music; updates state variables (achievement level rank "achieve" and change in achievement level rank "change") in a value function table "value" on the basis of the acquired achievement level; and provides the user who gives performance inputs with an advice designated by the most effective (maximum value) advice type "action" found from the value function table "value" [achieve] [change] [action] according to the updated state variables.
