PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding device for a ferrule capable of ensuring coaxiality between an outer circumference and a fiber insertion hole of the ferrule and also improving workability, and a grinding method using the grinding device. PSOLUTION: The grinding device for the ferrule 1 grinds the outer circumference of the ferrule 1 in which the insertion hole 1a for inserting an optical fiber is bored in the axial direction and includes: tailstock centers 2a, 2b that are engaged to both ends of the insertion hole and rotatably support the ferrule 1; a grinding wheel 3 for grinding the ferrule 1 by contacting the grinding wheel 3 to the outer circumference; and a drive belt 4 for sliding the outer circumference of the ferrule 1 at an opposite side of the grinding wheel 3 contact position and rotating the ferrule 1. Revolving force is applied from the outer circumferential surface of the ferrule 1 by sliding of the drive belt 4 so that the ferrule 1 having excellent coaxiality can be obtained.
