PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for proliferating a mutant rabies virus deficient in constituent proteins with reduced labor at low cost.SOLUTION: There is provided a means for synthesis and proliferation of mutant rabies virus comprising cotransfection of a mutant rabies virus or its genome deficient in one constituent protein and a mutant rabies virus or its genome deficient in another constituent protein among five constituent proteins of rabies virus into a cell. The mutant rabies virus deficient in constituent proteins can be synthesized by the method without using a constant expression cell of deficient constituent protein and, accordingly, labor for establishing the constant expression cell, etc., can be reduced. Since the scale-up of the mutant rabies virus can be performed by repeating a procedure to infect the cell and a procedure to recover the virus, the mutant rabies virus can be proliferated at low cost with reduced labor in a mass. The mutant rabies virus mixture liquid obtained by the method has immunogenicity and safety and is applicable to a rabies vaccine preparation.
