PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing methane gas from methane hydrate, as well as a device for producing methane gas, capable of producing methane gas by decomposing methane hydrate without changing a phase equilibrium state of temperature and pressure. PSOLUTION: When methane gas M is generated from methane hydrate existing in the sea bottom or the lake bottom, a dissociation chamber 3 including an opening 3a is arranged in such a way that methane hydrate 2 goes into the dissociation chamber 3 through the opening 3a. Then, water W having low methane consistency is supplied into the dissociation chamber 3, so as to dissociate methane from methane hydrate 2, and water W, in which methane is dissolved, in the dissociation chamber 3 is pumped up.
