PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a model animal and a cell for a hereditarily homogeneous nervous system disease which stably exhibit a condition of a nervous system disease, and a means for more efficiently developing a therapeutic/prophylactic agent using the model animal or cell.;SOLUTION: A model animal for a nervous system disease is a nonhuman mammal with insufficiency of DBZ gene expression in which (a) the number of brain cortex cells is reduced, and/or (b) the growth of neurites is inhibited, and/or (c) cell migration during formation of brain cortex is delayed, and/or (d) differentiation of oligodendrocyte is inhibited, in comparison with corresponding wild type animals. In the mammal with insufficiency of DBZ gene expression, a cell keeps differentiation of oligodendrocyte inhibited. A method for screening a therapeutic/prophylactic agent for nervous system disease is based on the application of a substance to be inspected to the animal or cell to evaluate organic changes of brain, differentiation of oligodendrocyte, or improvement of behavioral disorder.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
