PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion picture database creating method with which, in a motion picture data base in which motion picture data is registered as information, the number of motion picture data items registered per unit capacity is increased and retrieval is also facilitated. PSOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method of creating a motion picture database in which a plurality of registration motion picture data items are registered as information, and includes: a playback step S41 of playing back one of registration motion picture data items to obtain a playback motion picture; production steps S42-S43 of performing image processing including image binarization upon a plurality of frame images in the playback motion picture to produce a plurality of images for registration; recording steps S48, S50 of recording a group of images for registration, constituted of the plurality of images for registration, on a recording medium; and sorting steps S44-S46 included between the playback step and the recording step for performing sorting in such a way that a result of correlation operation between one and the other of the images for registration included in the group of images for registration becomes smaller than a preset threshold.
