PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell with high proton conductivity or a hydrogen sensor with high sensitivity at low cost. PSOLUTION: The proton conductive fuel cell is provided with a proton conductor made of tetravalent barium metal oxide with yttria added, and a noble metal electrode. The proton conductor has a composition expressed in: BaMSB1-x/SBYSBx/SBOSB3/SB(provided, M is a Ce or Zr element, and x=0.06 to 0.25.). Or, more preferably, a range of x is: x=0.15 to 0.25.
