PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact rolling apparatus operating in a warm temperature region for producing a metal wire having standards excellent in a balance between strength and ductility by a hyperfine crystal grain structure even without performing special heat treatment, and to provide a rolling technique using the same where the fall down of the material in a rolling stage does not occur, and also, the fullness of the material to a caliber is made suitable.;SOLUTION: The first rolling mill orthogonal to the passline direction of the metallic material to be rolled and provided with a pair of two caliber rolls in which the axial centers are parallel is arranged, and, adjacently thereto, the second rolling mill orthogonal to the rolling reduction direction of the metallic material to be rolled and provided with a pair of two caliber rolls in which the axial centers are parallel is arranged with small spacing therewith. Further, a plurality of even proximate rolling mill groups where roll rotation driving is an independent system are arranged in series.
