PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low pressure synthesizing method of cBN from hBN in a low pressure condition and a method for producing a cBN sintered body using a cBN raw material powder. PSOLUTION: The synthesis of cBN from hBN is performed at a low pressure (4 GPa or more) and at 1,200-1,900°C using alloy powders or mixed powders consisting of 15 wt.% or more and less than 50 wt.% of Mo, 1.5-8 wt.% of one or two selected from among Al and Mg and the balance of one or more selected from among Fe, Co and Ni as a metal catalyst. The sintered body of cBN is obtained by making the alloy powders or the mixed powders used as the metal catalyst as a sintering auxiliary agent contained in the raw material powder of the cBN and by sintering the mixture.
