PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for detecting directly and in a low invasive manner optional biological activity in a biological sample, in particular, for evaluating the biological activity over long period, or a method of analyzing it automatically. PSOLUTION: This device for evaluating the biological activity includes an accumulation type photodetecting means for obtaining optical information capable of accumulating and detecting a very weak optical data resulting from the biological activity in the biological sample, a means for generating image information of the biological sample, and an analytical means for analyzing continuously or with time the optical data as to an interesting portion or partial area in the image information.
