Closed loop power control based on receiving a continuous quality feedback is described. When the traffic stream susceptible to Voice over IP, such as (VoIP), the delay to continue substantially is enabled, the primary reverse link (RL) pilot is controlled by the quality feedback of such streams is. And when such a stream is not enabled, the quality of continuous RL overhead channel is used to control the pilot power. On the other hand, the traffic-to-pilot ratio of the data stream delay-sensitive simultaneously transmitted (TPR) is adjusted independently on the basis of the quality feedback that is associated with the data stream each such.
