To obtain an external preparation composed of prednisolone acetate valerate and a basic local anesthetic in which the prednisolone acetate valerate is stable even after storing for a long time. SOLUTION: This external preparation, in which prednisolone acetate valerate is contained in a state stable for a long time, is prepared by adjusting pH of an external preparation, which is composed of prednisolone acetate valerate and a basic local anesthetic and to 3-7. Especially, the basic local anesthetic is lidocaine and dibucaine or tetracaine; for the pH adjusting, citric acid, lactic acid, phosphoric acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, acetic acid, sorbic acid and hydrochloric acid or a base of such an acid is added; and they are formulated into a cream or an emulsion.
