PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide molten salt electrolyzer which suppresses pressure variation in a molten salt electrolytic cell and is provided with a chlorine gas suction means suitable for being stably controlled under a minutely reduced pressure, and to provide the preferable operation method of the molten salt electrolyzer.;SOLUTION: The molten salt electrolyzer includes: the molten salt electrolytic cell 1 of metal chloride; and the chlorine gas suction means connected to the electrolytic cell 1, wherein the chlorine gas suction means is configured such that a bag filter 3, a valve 4 for controlling the pressure in the electrolytic cell, a suction blower 5 and a suction control valve 41 are connected in series in this order.
