PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the remote measurement of the intensity of the space electric field of a region to be measured in the atmosphere without using a Pockels element or the like to accurately measure the intensity of the space electric field.;SOLUTION: This space electric field measuring instrument is equipped with a laser device 16 for emitting a laser beam 15, an irradiation device for irradiating the region A to be measured in the atmosphere with the laser beam 15 to produce plasma, a photodetector for detecting the emission of the plasma to obtain the measured value of the emission intensity of the plasma and an analyzer 24 utilizing correlation preliminarily calculated with respect to the emission intensity of the plasma to the intensity of the electric field in the periphery of the plasma to analyze the intensity of the electric field of the region A to be measured from the measured value of the emission intensity of the plasma. Further, the laser device 16 is one for outputting a very short pulsed laser beam 15, the irradiation device is one for irradiating the region A to be measured in the atmosphere with the very short pulsed laser beam 15 to produce a filament 14 and the plasma is preferably the plasma produced by the production of the filament 14.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
