PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve information security in an action mode which should be executed by a maintenance worker. PSOLUTION: A digital copying machine determines whether or not a card reader is a genuine card reader (step S3) when the card reader is connected (Y in step S2). The reliability level for a maintenance mode is set to "high" (step S4) when the card reader 22 is the genuine card reader (Y in step S3) and the reliability level for the maintenance mode is set to "low" (step S5) when the card reader is not the genuine card reader (N in step S3).
