PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hologram recording and reproducing apparatus not causing the laser beam light amount loss without requiring extra equipment such as a light receiver and a moving mechanism for forming interference stripes, and not increasing the cost, even when evaluating the interference of the laser beam by using the interference stripes formed by reflecting the laser beam with a wedge prism, and also to provide a method of evaluating the laser beam interference in it.;SOLUTION: The hologram recording and reproducing apparatus has a wedge prism disposed on a table or close to it so that it is irradiated with the laser beam from a laser radiator and that the reflected laser beam is received by the light receiver used to reproduce the data recorded on a hologram recording medium; and a laser radiator evaluation means to evaluate the interference of the laser radiator based on the signals that the light receiver outputs to show the interference stripes formed on it, when radiating the laser beam from the laser radiator to the wedge prism.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
