PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coal fired power generation system not requiring a large amount of initial investment and large-scale additional equipment, and enlarging the mean particle diameter of fly ash, or a method for enlarging the mean particle diameter of fly ash. PSOLUTION: A coal combustion plant 10 in the coal fired power generation system includes: an electric dust collector 90 having an opening 114b formed in the vicinity of a portion where fly ash having a larger mean particle diameter out of the fly ash is removed; a combustion boiler 40 having an opening 42 for forming an opening on the downstream from the combustion boiler 40 and the upstream from the electric dust collector 90; a fly ash transfer pipe 170 making the opening 114b communicate with the opening 42; and a suction device 180 for sucking in the fly ash transfer pipe 170 from the opening 114b to the opening 42.
